Fiddle player wanted
Hi
We are Pink Froot, 5 piece Bath and Bristol based folk band, playing arrangements of both traditional songs and tunes. We have a dark streak and our songs play with the universal ideas of love, death, betrayal and obsession, though our latest adaptation, of 'White Dress' by Sandy Denny, arranged by us into a rock steady invitation to dance, show our joyful sides as well.
We have a new singer, Esther Jay, and are in the proces of building new sets to play live in the area this autumn and at local-ish folk festivals next year.
We would like a second lead instrumentalist, preferably a fiddle player to make harmony with Ann, our flute player and to add rich textures to the overall sound. This means a multi-instrumentalist or accordion/concertina player might fit the role.
You would have to be happy with playing accompaniment to sung songs as well as having the opportunity to let rip in fast traditional tunes or play soulful airs.
It is not necessary to be a virtuoso player, Ann, our lead instrumentalist is a very fine player indeed and very supportive to people of all abilities, she runs the Scotchman and his Pack Irish music session on Tuesday nights in Bristol. Maybe you learnt violin when you were young and want to return to it now. This would be ideal. It is far more important that you play with passion.
Reading the above it sounds like we're finger-in-the-ear folky old codgers but we're not, oh no, really we are not. We are very funky indeed and are going to have a lot of fun.
