Director Wanted
ARCC have been playing improvised soundtrack to film for six years, through a variety of line-ups and show formats. We would like to work with a director to produce a live show / installation for 2010, probably for use at festivals and touring arts centre type venues and cinemas such as The Cube
We have run film and music based events before in a variety of formats and we are looking to take this a little further.
We envisage any or all of the following;
• video decor
• multiple video inputs and outputs, screens, projectors and tvs
• live camera
• a main feature, with film made by our director with a live performance soundtrack by the musicians of ARCC
• a strong textual, narrative component. projected with the visuals also on their own channels and/or using slide projectors
• the use of samples from hollywood movies and others
• DJ
• electronic musician
• a sculpture consisting of a tower of CRT TVs
• webcams at strategic locations through the venue feeding into;
• the mirror of the gods, a vertical projection onto a round table
• puppetry
• dance
• performance art
Obviously the above can be seen as (blank) media, into which we want a director to inject their vision and message. That director would, at this stage, also have sufficient technical skill to manipulate the video channels in a live context. Thus we would welcome approaches from existing production teams.
The first stage would be to write a proposal with the intention of attracting Arts Council funding to produce a tourable show.
