Commis Chef required

We are currently looking for an experienced Chef de Rang to join the team at an exclusive and luxurious country house hotel near Bath.

Job Description:

Hours of Work:
As required, based on 40hrs per week, 5 days from 7.

Job Objective:
To ensure the smooth running of the Restaurant through the implementation of standard operating procedures.

Purpose of the Job

1. To cater for the guests needs.
2. To provide Mise-en-place for service.
3. To communicate and work well with the team.
4. To ensure all commis and demi-chef de rangs are consistently delivering the standards set.
5. To provide a 5 star service.
6. To use every opportunity to up sell.
7. To provide guests with vital information and knowledge.
8. Training.

Main Duties

1. Supplying the highest possible levels of customer care and service whether in the public eye or back of house areas.
2. To ensure that all mis-en-place is done to the correct standard.
3. To maintain the standards set by the restaurant manager
4. To ensure that all cleaning and hygiene rotas are complete to standards expected.
5. To inform manager when problem arises.
6. To have knowledge of products being sold.
7. To handover when shift changes.
8. To ensure that all cutlery, crockery etc. Is stored correctly.
9. To avoid breakages of all items.
10. To liaise between demi chef rangs and head waiters
11. To support head waiters when needed
12. To up sell at any opportunity
13. To act as a figure head of the restaurant
14. To relevant stock takes and orders (if necessary)
15. Control relevant stock (if necessary)
16. To mentor commis and demi chef de rangs
17. To always have a clean and correct uniform
18. To show and set example at all times.
19. To cover duties of all other personnel when necessary e.g. holidays, illness or staff shortages.
20. To provide a 5 star service at all times

Training & Development

1. To attend departmental meetings, as required.
2. To undertake any on / off-job training, as necessary.
3. To train and encourage other members of the department as required.
4. To advise your Line Manager of your further personal training and development requirements.
