Job Digital Designer, Bradford-Upon-Avon
Job; Digital Designer, Bradford-Upon-Avon
The Person Spec;
Well organised
Works on a PC (Client is PC based).
Ideally from a marketing background – understanding of design for email would be great.
They need someone who can:
Take a brief from account management.
Understand the content of the brief and the proposition - ‘what they are trying to achieve’.
Understand what content is important and how to pull that content out and bring the whole thing to life.
Is comfortable working independently or in a group. Sometimes you will work from scamps, sometimes you will need to create something completely on your own.
Someone who is able to think creatively (from a design point of view – and any other), not just push designs around a page (although this is a small part of the job). They want this person to understand the brief and create designs that ‘make it happen’.
Taking the rough with the smooth. As a business they do a certain amount of bread and butter ‘newsletter’ work where they need to plug in content to design templates, This is10-15% of the role. The other 90% is working on pitches, designing websites, designing banners, designing bespoke emails and eNewsletter templates and generally preaching design ability to the rest of the company and impressing account managers.
Skills;
Knowledge of Flash would be useful to ‘help out’ if they are up against it – Photoshop a must. Someone with Illustrator is preferable too.
The Role;
Working within a small team in BOA (Senior Designer, Junior Designer, CD and ‘new creative’) you’ll be an important part of a busy creative department working with brands such as Travelodge, Nikon, Lexmark and Discovery Foods.
The company is now part of the world’s largest independent advertising agency, they are asked to pitch for some big brands – the successful person will be working with the team to develop work for pitches (usually in a short timescale).
Day to day you will be working mostly independently with account managers, but overseen by senior members of the team. On larger projects, they will work as a group to create look & feels, or if the successful person is capable enough, you be left to your own devices.
Salary dependent upon experience.
Location – Bradford upon Avon, Wiltshire.
