Cambridge Audio K500 Isolation Platform (was more than £100)

If you know anything about high quality sound reproduction, then there is no need to explain how detrimental to the sound are even smallest vibrations, induced by traffic, or by the speakers playing music, especially at low frequencies. CD/DVD players, valve peamps and amplifiers are very susceptible to vibrations, and even solid state (transistor) equipment is influenced (mainly through capacitors in them).
Cambridge Audio Isolation Platform addresses all the problems - it is a complex ultra-rigid metal platform, heavily internally damped by proprietary materials which are transferring kinetic energy into heat. Also the platform comes with 4 big squishy balls (made of soft rubber-like material) which are placed under the platform and cut off all vibrations coming from the rack, while vibro-grounding the equipment on the platform by dissipating internally induced vibrations (if any).
It is a very effective tool that improves the sound - I notice better soundstage focus, more micro-detail, and better tone and more harmonic detail.
Best under CD and DVD players. But I found it really indispensible under valve amps and especially preamps - some valves are so microphonic you can hear yourself walk the room (through the speakers)! This platform rids of that effect for good.
It is in very good (perfect) condition. I used 3 out of 4 balls, so they are flattened somewhat, but it is normal, and will happen to the fourth ball too if you place it under the platform (for heavier items).
It is very versatile in that it lets you try other isolating feet like Audioquest sorbothane, etc., or try energy transduction instead of dissipation by using metal or composite cones (like Nordost Pulsar Points).
It used to cost more than £100 (I don't remember exactly - around $200).
I am selling it only because I am leaving the UK and it is a too heavy and bulky item to take onboard. The other equipment in the photo is not included :-)
